Summary
Tribosonics Limited are looking for Project engineer apprentice to join their team. The candidate will assist in implementation of measurement technologies into customer systems through research, testing, development, manufacture and implementation of ultrasonic sensors and instrumentation.

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
Role & responsibilities:
Engineering Manufacture prototypes for visualisation as well as test purposes;
- Carry out machining on milling machine and lathe
- Carry out additive manufacturing using available resources
- Manage the process of outsourcing more complex machining tasks
- Prototypes are to be of high quality
Support the production of prototype designs based upon experimentation results;
- Research other solutions and carefully document findings
Brainstorm and design possible solutions - Sourcing components from bill of materials
Oversee preparation and finalisation of experimental investigations;
- Read and understand risk assessments
- Prepare lab/workshop with correct materials and equipment
- Pack away materials and equipment after testing
Support with experimental investigations;
- Source materials and equipment from suppliers
- Carry out testing
- Recording of data/findings
- Take responsibility for testing documentation
- Be professional if carrying out work on client sites
Support the analysis and report on results of experimentation;
- Carry out data processing
- Plot results in suitable formats (Excel)
- Care taken with data formatting
- Assist with the writing of reports
- Data and results sufficiently documented and archived so they may be used in the future
Perform practical work in a safe and controlled manner to ensure both quality of work and the safety of yourself and others;
- Follow works procedures carefully
- Results are both accurate and repeatable
- Results recorded in a clear manner and well documented
- Compliance to H&S regulations and Tribosonics practices
On site work;
- Create method statements, risk assessments
- Create packing lists and resource sourcing
- Support line manager during industrial visits
Project ManagementManage suppliers to ensure ordered parts are delivered on schedule, to cost and to specification;
- Parts delivered on time
- Parts delivered at agreed price
- Parts are to specification
- Provide regular update on progress to line manager
- Regular meetings to be agreed with line manager
General
Ensure that Tribosonics is a healthy and safe working environment;
- Ensure relevant Risk Assessments are created to enable you to safely carry out your work
- Report any Health and Safety issues you notice
Conduct work for Tribosonics in a professional manner;
- Appropriate attire for meetings and customer/supplier visits
- Professionalism in all communications
Assist with other tasks as requested, including being responsible for the laboratory or office on a rota basis;
- To help ensure the lab and office remain safe and clean for the benefit of staff and customers
- Organising the shipping of products and components
Play a role in improving the company;
- Attendance and contribution to team meetings and discussions

- Foundation Stage: Producing components using hand fitting, fabrication and joining techniques
- Foundation Stage: Producing Computer Aided Design (CAD) models (drawings) using a CAD system
- Foundation Stage: Preparing and using lathes, milling and other general or specialist machines and high tech equipment
- Foundation Stage: Preparing and proving Computer Numeric Control programmes
- Foundation Stage: Using computer software packages to assist with and evaluate engineering activities
- Foundation Stage: Producing and managing engineering project plans
- Foundation Stage: Producing assemblies using a wide range of materials and techniques
- Development Team: Project management and scheduling engineering activities
- Development Team: Securing appropriate resources and managing budgets and resources
- Development Team: Implementing, monitoring and evaluating engineering processes
Your training plan
You will study on a Level 6 Manufacturing Engineer degree apprenticeship on a Maintenance Technology pathway. On completion of this, you will gain a qualification in Engineering at Degree Level 6 standard.
During the first year of the apprenticeship, your learning will take place at the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre based at Catcliffe, Rotherham, for an initial block of study on a full-time basis. After this, you will attend the Training Centre for one day a week for knowledge study.

GCSE in:

You will need ONE of the following: A minimum of two A-Levels at grade B or above, including a mathematical-based subject and a science, technology, engineering or an additional mathematics-related subject / An Engineering BTEC Level 3 with at least 120 credits at DM (Distinction Merit) level or above / EAL Diploma in an engineering-based subject at distinction level / Equivalent qualifications such as Technical Levels (T-Levels) at DM or above
