An integrated learning opportunity at a creative comms agency across PR & social media. This will be the first step in building a career in PR and social media and the role will support all levels of the organisation and work across the agency’s brand, lifestyle, events, festivals, food and drink clients.

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
Press Office Support:
- Organisation of assets
- Coverage saving, i.e. scanning, screen grabbing or audio recording
- Media monitoring, i.e. reading the daily newspapers to look for client coverage, scanning our media monitoring service for coverage
- Creating and maintaining mailing lists and contact databases
- Drafting press releases and copy
Media Liaison:
- Developing contacts across consumer and trade media
- Media meets and attending media workshops
- Pitching into journalists via the phone and on email for campaign sell ins
- Issuing and managing press and influencer invitations for events
- Supporting media promotional activity, such as competitions, sampling offers
Agency Support:
- Research and audience insight
- Participation in internal creative meetings for clients and new business
- Writing newsletters and blogs
Events:
- Support for event preparation including accreditation, interviews, immersions
- On-site presence supporting team and liaising with media including occasional weekends and evenings
Administration:
- Answering incoming calls and taking messages where required
- Office admin duties when/where required

Course contents
- Use IT systems and software to support campaigns.
- Build stakeholder relationships including developing contacts within the media and presenting to them in both formal and informal settings.
- Support campaigns by undertaking tasks such as desk research, event co-ordination, and database management to ensure compliance with agreed service or performance levels.
- Produce written content such as news releases, articles, social media content, bulletins, and blogs, that is accessible to meet the needs of different audiences and channels.
- Able to adapt communication styles as appropriate to the audience.
- Support the production of non-written content such as film production management, producing short user generated style content, live video streaming, social image creation, and infographic production.
- Distribute content using social media channels.
- Use qualitative and quantitative research to analyse and evaluate public relations and communications activities and present findings to project stakeholders.
- Analyse and interpret complex subjects through different communication channels and identify areas for improvement.
- Input to and review communications programmes and plans with a focus on environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles.
- Undertake risk assessment and provide information to support stakeholder planning and strategy.
- Plan and deliver engagement activities for stakeholders, such as curating the content, supporting events, and collating feedback.
- Proofread and edit communications materials such as news releases, graphics and video, and social media content.
- Support team and colleague development through buddying or coaching.
- Contribute to activities which focus on improving sustainability within the organisation.
- Apply relevant legislation, regulations, codes of practice, and ethical guidance where appropriate to their work.

- 1:1 every 6 weeks or so
- 6 hours a week minimum working on apprenticeship can be doing things at work for example shadowing meetings, providing they are learning

Essential qualifications
GCSE in:

We will be working with alcohol brands, please ensure you are comfortable doing so. In the past we have had activations in other countries and you may be asked to attend.

We hope to retain any apprentices after their apprenticeship is completed. We currently have two past apprentices who are now working as an Account Manager and a Senior Account Executive.
