Summary

Are you passionate about starting your career in HR? Do you want to work in a dynamic environment where quality, safety, and passion drive everything we do? As HR Apprentice, you’ll support with HR administration, recruitment, onboarding, and training coordination whilst gaining hands-on HR experience and your Level 3 HR Support Apprenticeship.

The hourly rate for this role is £10ph for the first year, rising to the national minimum wage after 12 months. If a permanent role is secured following completion of the apprenticeship, salaries are based on the Real Living Wage or above.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain HR records, databases, and systems to ensure compliance with policies and CQC standards.
    Issue offer letters, contracts, and other HR documentation.
    Conduct Return to Work interviews and welfare checks as needed.
  • Support recruitment campaigns, screen candidates, and coordinate interviews.
  • Manage new starter documentation, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with onboarding and induction processes.
  • Organise training sessions and maintain training records to ensure compliance with CQC requirements.
  • Complete HR audits, produce reports, and support governance processes.
  • Attend and minute HR-related meetings, including grievances and disciplinaries.

  • Service Delivery: Delivers excellent customer service on a range of HR queries and requirements, providing solutions, advice and support primarily to managers. Builds managers’ expertise in HR matters, improving their ability to handle repeated situations themselves where appropriate. Uses agreed systems and processes to deliver service to customers. Takes the initiative to meet agreed individual and team KPIs in line with company policy, values, standards. Plans and organises their work, often without direct supervision, to meet commitments and KPIs.
  • Problem Solving: Uses sound questioning and active listening skills to understand requirements and establish root causes before developing HR solutions. Takes ownership through to resolution, escalating complex situations as appropriate.
  • Communication & Interpersonal: Deals effectively with customers/colleagues, using sound interpersonal skills and communicating well through a range of media eg phone, face to face, email, internet. Adapts their style to their audience. Builds trust and sound relationships with customers. Handles conflict and sensitive HR situations professionally and confidentially.
  • Teamwork: Consistently supports colleagues /collaborates within the team and HR to achieve results. Builds/maintains strong working relationships with others in the team and across HR where necessary.
  • Process Improvement: Identifies opportunities to improve HR performance and service; acts on them within the authority of their role. Supports implementation of HR changes/projects with the business.
  • Managing HR Information: Maintains required HR records as part of services delivered. Prepares reports and management information from HR data, with interpretation as required.
  • Personal Development: Keeps up to date with business changes and HR legal/policy/process changes relevant to their role. Seeks feedback and acts on it to improve their performance and overall capability.

Your training plan

Your HR Support Apprenticeship - Level 3 will be delivered through a blended learning approach, enabling you to integrate learning with work, whilst accessing online learning content and virtual learning sessions. You will also be supported by an existing member of the team who is already registered for this course with the same provider so you will have someone working alongside you to provide support and guidence if your ever unsure. 

Entry Requirements: You don’t need academic qualifications to start working in a CIPD role but some employers will want you to have a good standard of education, such as GCSEs, including English and maths.

Following completion of the HR Apprentiship there are a number of established career routes, including progressing into a perminant HR Administrator role, or continuing learning to move into a Learning and Development or broader HR role.
