Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

Key responsibilities:

-To provide an efficient and customer-focused reception service for the HR team

-To process and log confidential documentation and correspondence

-To create and maintain hard copy / electronic personal and job vacancy files, ensuring the information is kept up to date

-To support the health and well-being programmes and capture of the relevant data

-To support the HR team to implement designated HR projects

-To support the Recruitment Lead with participating in recruitment events

-Passing over application forms for hiring managers to shortlist

-Helping to arrange interviews and preparing paperwork

-Requesting and verifying references for successful candidates

-Monitoring the HR inbox, answering the phone and dealing with requests from staff and the public

-Ensuring HR records are kept up to date

-Drafting correspondence and emails

-Supporting with ad hoc recruitment events

-Working within our values to ensure the organisation meets its people objectives

Course contents
  • Service Delivery: Delivers excellent customer service on a range of HR queries and requirements, providing solutions, advice and support primarily to managers. Builds managers’ expertise in HR matters, improving their ability to handle repeated situations themselves where appropriate. Uses agreed systems and processes to deliver service to customers. Takes the initiative to meet agreed individual and team KPIs in line with company policy, values, standards. Plans and organises their work, often without direct supervision, to meet commitments and KPIs.
  • Problem Solving: Uses sound questioning and active listening skills to understand requirements and establish root causes before developing HR solutions. Takes ownership through to resolution, escalating complex situations as appropriate.
  • Communication & Interpersonal: Deals effectively with customers/colleagues, using sound interpersonal skills and communicating well through a range of media eg phone, face to face, email, internet. Adapts their style to their audience. Builds trust and sound relationships with customers. Handles conflict and sensitive HR situations professionally and confidentially.
  • Teamwork: Consistently supports colleagues /collaborates within the team and HR to achieve results. Builds/maintains strong working relationships with others in the team and across HR where necessary.
  • Process Improvement: Identifies opportunities to improve HR performance and service; acts on them within the authority of their role. Supports implementation of HR changes/projects with the business.
  • Managing HR Information: Maintains required HR records as part of services delivered. Prepares reports and management information from HR data, with interpretation as required.
  • Personal Development: Keeps up to date with business changes and HR legal/policy/process changes relevant to their role. Seeks feedback and acts on it to improve their performance and overall capability.

Attendance will be at Chichester College for one day per week. An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

GCSE in:

Other requirements

This is an Apprenticeship Job so applicants MUST BE free from full time education to be eligible to apply for it. Applicants MUST BE resident in the UK for a minimum of 3 years prior to the start of learning and have work authorisation for the UK. Applicants WILL NOT BE eligible to apply if they have already achieved a qualification which is equal to or higher thank the apprenticeship standard on offer. Applicants MUST BE resident in the area local to the apprenticeship opportunity or be prepared to relocate in time to start employment and study. 13-month apprenticeship (training period) plus 3-month end point assessment Attendance will be at Chichester College for one day per week. Past working experience in education or further education would be an advantage DBS Certificate will be required You will be expected to understand the important of keeping children safe in education and confidentiality Chichester College has great connections by road, bus or rail The bus depot and train station are a 10–15-minute walk from the College Campus There is a car park on site There is a canteen on site
