Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
As a Fitter Tester your learning will consist of training on building and testing a variety of different products with increasing complexity. Your time will be split between attending In-Comm Training Centre in Telford where you will spend time learning basic engineering skills, and on-site putting your learning into practice where you will learn from our skilled engineers the basic principles and under pinning knowledge needed for your career.
Your duties will include:
- Producing components using hand-fitting techniques
- Preparing & using milling machines
- Producing CAD Models (drawings) using a CAD system
- Producing engineering project plans
- Preparing & using CNC machining centres
- General welding applications
- Complying with statutory regulations, organisation. safety requirements

Your training plan
This is a three year Level 3 Engineering Technician Apprenticeship, Technical Support pathway, with the first year being full time at the training provider, In-Comm Training Services in Telford, TF3 3AJ. Please ensure you are able to travel to this address as well as to the company address.
- Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence)
- Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence)
- Technical support and a Level 3 Diploma or Extended Diploma in
- Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)

Essential qualifications
GCSE or equivalent in:
- Maths, English, Physics or Engineering (grade 9-5)

If you are successful at first stage interview, you will be required to attend an assessment day at In-Comm, this will take place during Easter holidays.

On completion of your apprenticeship, your career will begin with your role in our Works Engineering Department. Your career will then be driven by your personal ambition and drive and fully supported by the company.
