You will work on state-of-the-art technology to deliver high value manufacturing expertise to our global customers.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

As a Fitter Tester your learning will consist of training on building and testing a variety of different products with increasing complexity. Your time will be split between attending In-Comm Training Centre in Telford where you will spend time learning basic engineering skills, and on-site putting your learning into practice where you will learn from our skilled engineers the basic principles and under pinning knowledge needed for your career. 

Your duties will include:

  • Producing components using hand-fitting techniques
  • Preparing & using milling machines
  • Producing CAD Models (drawings) using a CAD system
  • Producing engineering project plans
  • Preparing & using CNC machining centres
  • General welding applications
  • Complying with statutory regulations, organisation. safety requirements

Your training plan

This is a three year Level 3 Engineering Technician Apprenticeship, Technical Support pathway, with the first year being full time at the training provider, In-Comm Training Services in Telford, TF3 3AJ. Please ensure you are able to travel to this address as well as to the company address.

  • Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence)
  • Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence)
  • Technical support and a Level 3 Diploma or Extended Diploma in
  • Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)

Essential qualifications

GCSE or equivalent in:

  • Maths, English, Physics or Engineering (grade 9-5)

If you are successful at first stage interview, you will be required to attend an assessment day at In-Comm, this will take place during Easter holidays.
