Summary

Purchase Ledger Clerk and Office Administrator to work with and report to the Finance director and help with the day to day office administration reporting to the office manager. Working in a small team covering a wide range of accounting / office duties to expand their skill set.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

Duties:

  • Processing purchase invoices
  • Supplier statement reconciliations
  • Ability to resolve purchase ledger queries
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Process expenses
  • Answering calls and correspondences
  • Taking care of administrative tasks, such as correspondence, filing and printing
  • Maintaining accurate information for compliance purposes
  • Undertake additional ad hoc duties as needed

Course contents
  • Assist with the investigation and response to financial information queries.
  • Record and analyse financial data using the organisation’s standard tools and processes.
  • Apply double entry bookkeeping and accounting standards to process financial documents, generate financial statements and report financial information to users of accounts.
  • Assist with production of accurate financial information for the preparation of accounts.
  • Reconcile financial data, such as, preparation of reconciliations or review of reconciliations.
  • Investigate, resolve or escalate transactional queries and errors within their remit as appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders.
  • Communicate financial information in a way that non-finance stakeholders can interpret and understand.
  • Utilise digital skills to present key financial information using finance and accounting software and applications.
  • Use software packages to assist with basic accounting tasks in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.
  • Communicate using varying approaches and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.

Your training plan

  • Main learning objectives: Analysis, produces quality and accurate information, problem solving, business awareness, IT systems and processes, financial accounting & processes.
  • AAT Qualification
  • EPA (End Point Assessment)

Towards the final few months of the apprenticeship you will complete your End Point Assessment. This includes a synoptic end test, a portfolio and a professional discussion. All assessment methods will be conducted and graded by an independent EPAO.

This Apprenticeship requires you to attend Runshaw College 1-day week. You will be assessed through written work, verbal discussion, synoptic exams and observation throughout your training.

GCSE in:

  • English and maths at A*-C / 9-4 (grade 4 x A*-D / 9-3)

A Level in:
