Summary

Yolo Inc. Ltd. are looking to recruit a Warehouse Operative Apprentice to work within this experienced and well-run company to achieve the Supply Chain Warehouse Operative Level 2 apprenticeship standard. The aim is to become a fully qualified Warehouse Operative who can work in a variety of warehouse environments.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

Throughout the apprenticeship you will be developing skills in these key areas for the business and learning about the industry as a whole. As you gain more experience your responsibilities will increase. 

On a day-to-day basis as an apprentice your duties include, but are not restricted to:

  • Supporting the Warehouse Supervisor in ensuring that all products are scanned in and out of the Warehouse
  • Moving all products into the dispatch area and prepare and cut plastic as per surveyors cutting sheet, heat shrink, tape up and place ready for collection
  • Taking deliveries
  • Checking for damaged/missed items
  • Organise products into the applicable storing area
  • Moving stock by various methods
  • Loading goods for dispatch
  • Manually unloading lorries
  • Making sure all plastic is checked and is stored away in the plastic cupboard upon delivery
  • Ensuring the warehouse, loading, unloading and skip areas are kept clean and tidy on a daily basis
  • Ensuring efficient running of the Warehouse in the absence of the Warehouse Supervisor
  • Other general duties i.e. Cleaning
  • Safe use a range of equipment, machinery & vehicles relevant to your role

  • Load and unload products, considering the product that is to be moved and its current and planned destination.
  • Use tools and equipment to aid in product handling.
  • Use information technology and digital systems. Comply with GDPR and cyber security.
  • Locate and use operational information, electronic or paper based, required to fulfil contractual requirements.
  • Select, prepare, and use packaging materials that reduce waste and mitigate environmental impacts.
  • support under instruction scheduled and unscheduled stock taking activities relevant to the organisation and product.
  • Identify and escalate problems beyond own responsibility.
  • Follow procedures in line with environmental and sustainability regulations, standards, and guidance. Segregate resources for reuse, recycling and disposal.
  • Follow equity, diversity and inclusion rules.
  • Carry out and record learning and development activities.

Your training plan

Training will be provided to achieve the following qualifications:

  • Level 2 Supply Chain Warehouse Operative Apprenticeship Standard
  • Functional Skills Level 2 in maths and English (if required)

Training would be primarily conducted in the workplace with frequent visits from your tutor, but some training may take place periodically at our training centre (DL1 4QZ). 

Here you will learn the theory and practical elements of the course, gaining the knowledge and developing skills to exceed the minimum apprenticeship standards.

Other requirements

This course is delivered primarily in the workplace and will receive regular visits by the course tutor. You will be given the option to attend our training centre in Darlington (DL1 5AJ) for additional support, if required. Travel to and from the employer, based at DL10 4TQ. If the successful applicant does not hold English or maths at GCSE grade 4+, or equivalent, they would be required to work towards and sit the Functional Skills L2 exam/s.
