Summary

We are a family office for a private family and we are looking for an Accounts Assistant Apprentice to join our expanding finance team. The team is responsible for the financial information of over 10 different companies and you will gain experience of a variety of industries including Food Manufacturing, Hospitality & Property.

Annual wage
£13,312 to £23,795.20 a year

Salaries are reviewed every April and we also operate a bonus scheme (PRP) after successful completion of your probation for between 5-15% of your salary (to be confirmed and discussed at interview)

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

  • Assisting with accounting transactions across the group of companies
  • Responsible for accurate and timely input of all purchase invoices across the group into the accounting system (Xero)
  • Reconciling the Accounts Payable ledger on a monthly basis for further review.
  • Credit control across the group to ensure timely receipt of outstanding invoices and regular contact with customers and stakeholders
  • Reconciling the Accounts Receivable ledgers on a monthly basis
  • Owning one companies financial reporting to increase knowledge to include bank reconciliations, month-end journals, balance sheet reconciliations and management accounts preparation (including report writing)

Course contents
  • Assist with the investigation and response to financial information queries.
  • Record and analyse financial data using the organisation’s standard tools and processes.
  • Apply double entry bookkeeping and accounting standards to process financial documents, generate financial statements and report financial information to users of accounts.
  • Assist with production of accurate financial information for the preparation of accounts.
  • Reconcile financial data, such as, preparation of reconciliations or review of reconciliations.
  • Investigate, resolve or escalate transactional queries and errors within their remit as appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders.
  • Communicate financial information in a way that non-finance stakeholders can interpret and understand.
  • Utilise digital skills to present key financial information using finance and accounting software and applications.
  • Use software packages to assist with basic accounting tasks in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.
  • Communicate using varying approaches and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.

  • It would be expected that this role will progress to a Management Accountant after the apprenticeship
  • The team is ever expanding as the group has strong growth plans
  • After time, the progression would be to Finance Manager, Financial Controller (for each of our different sectors) and FD/CFO
