Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
Role duties include:
- Providing for all animal’s physical needs including feeding, cleaning, and grooming and completing daily health checks
- Maintaining a high standard of cleanliness by washing and maintaining the feeding utensils, litter trays, bedding, and all areas of the enclosures
- Preparing food and drink for the animals in line with specific needs
- Dog exercise and enrichment
- Observing and promoting the animals physical, social, and emotional development
- Administering medication with full supervision
- Taking bookings and providing excellent customer support

Your training plan
- Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment.
- The applicant will be working towards and gain a Level 2 Animal Care & Welfare Apprenticeship Standard.
- The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and on site visits throughout the apprenticeship.
- The apprentice will work towards an End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of their apprenticeship.

Other requirements
This role will be working outdoors, working with animals, lots of exercise, and a great deal of fun playing with the dogs and cuddling cats. KEITS reserve the right to close this vacancy earlier than the date provided if necessary. The apprentice will be working to build a portfolio of evidence and will be required to pass a knowledge test and an End Point Assessment (EPA) to complete the apprenticeship.
