Summary
Working towards a Level 3 Teaching Assistant Standard, you will assist the class teacher to provide high quality teaching and learning support to pupils.

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

The ideal candidate will
- Will form part of a small but experienced specialist team in a diverse and ever-changing environment
- Work closely with staff and outside agencies to ensure children at Nottingham Academy have excellent provision
- Promote self-esteem, confidence and help children to become emotionally healthy
- Have high expectations of themselves, striving for the best in everything they do
- Be an enthusiastic, committed and ambitious team player; open to learning and professional development
- Have a strong interest in working with a niche cohort of students with low communication and literacy levels
- Be keen to train to deliver reading recovery interventions

- Apply teaching strategies to deliver learning activities or interventions.
- Build relationships with learners, teachers, other professionals and stakeholders.
- Comply with legislation, guidance, and procedures for Prevent, safeguarding and health & safety.
- Support the well-being and mental health of learners.
- Observe, record, and report on learners in line with organisational procedures.
- Apply methods of formative assessment.
- Use up to date technology safely, to support learning.
- Encourage safe use of technology by learners.
- Adapt teaching strategies to support all learners (for example, scaffolding, open questioning).
- Identify and respond to pastoral and academic behaviours in learners.
- Provide feedback to learners.

Requirements
Essential qualifications
GCSE or equivalent in:
- English (grade 4 or above)
- Maths (grade 4 or above)
