Summary

The Digital Data Apprentice implement and manage websites for our Local Authority, NHS and Charity clients, helping citizens to stay independent and self-serve. As a Digital Data apprentice, you will work alongside the Project Managers and the wider delivery team to provide excellent service to our customers.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

Duties will include (but not be limited to): 

Administrative tasks: 

  • Work with Project Assistant to ensure documentation and team guidance is kept up to data
  • Assist with data entry and content migration tasks

Client support:

  • Triage and review support tickets on Jira Service Desk, ensuring all tickets are actively worked on and updated regularly with clear and comprehensive notes on progress
  • Action simple support tickets such as account setups, password resets, assistance with navigation of websites and content changes
  • Support Project Managers with issue investigation and resolution
  • Assign complex tickets to relevant team members and liaise/chase for completion where necessary

Project support: 

  • Provide ad-hoc support to Project Managers with day-to-day tasks
  • Assist with project reporting including progress reporting and profit tracking

Reporting:

  • Take responsibility for creating and distributing monthly performance reports for clients, compiling data from a range of sources including Google Analytics, Jira Service Desk and PPL’s platform 
  • Assist with profitability and resource reporting

  • Source and migrate data from already identified different sources.
  • Collect, format and save datasets.
  • Summarise and explain gathered data.
  • Blend data sets from multiple sources and present in format appropriate to the task.
  • Manipulate and link different data sets as required.
  • Use tools and techniques to identify trends and patterns in data.
  • Apply basic statistical methods and algorithms to identify trends and patterns in data.
  • Apply cross checking techniques for identifying faults and data results for data project requirements.
  • Audit data results.
  • Demonstrate the different ways of communicating meaning from data in line with audience requirements.
  • Produce clear and consistent technical documentation using standard organisational templates.
  • Store, manage and distribute in compliance with data security standards and legislation.
  • Explain data and results to different audiences in a way that aids understanding.
  • Review own development needs.
  • Keep up to date with developments in technologies, trends and innovation using a range of sources.
  • Clean data i.e. remove duplicates, typos, duplicate entries, out of date data, parse data (e.g. format telephone numbers according to a national standard) and test and assess confidence in the data and its integrity.
  • Operate as part of a multi-functional team.
  • Prioritise within the context of a project.

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • any subject --- x3 (grade 4+ (A-C))
  • English (grade 3+ (D or above))
  • Maths (grade 3+ (D or above))
