Exciting opportunity for a dedicated and enthusiastic Apprentice Engineer to join our small and friendly team. Working across all makes of machinery from disc cutters to heavy plant and all agricultural machinery both out on site and in our dedicated workshop facilities.

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
- The role is for an apprentice engineer to join our small and friendly team
- Working alongside our qualified engineers, learning all aspects of engineering from electrical fault finding, hydraulics, engine rebuilds or all makes of agricultural machinery and construction equipment
- You will be required to support the engineers both on site and in our dedicated workshop facilities
- You must be a good team player
- Able to work on own initiative
- Have own tools or willing to start building up
- Responsible for keeping the workshop areas and service vans clean, tidy and well stocked
- Assist with stock take
- Ability to communicate with customers effectively

Course contents
- Select and apply appropriate tools and equipment, demonstrate dexterity, resourcefulness, and a professional approach to service engineering practice.
- Maintain and conduct basic repairs and maintenance activities on power units, and power trains, mechanical equipment, plant and machinery and their associated systems and components either under supervision or following procedures and service schedules prepared by the manufacturer or employer.
- Thermally and chemically join metals and materials.
- Access and interpret technical data relating to service and maintenance operations in accordance with the manufacturer’s documentation.
- Communicate with customers and colleagues expressing technical information in clear concise terms whilst demonstrating customer care principles.
- Work efficiently both under supervision, individually and as a team member.
- Demonstrate a logical, safe and systematic approach to work practices.
- Carry out operational tests on low technology plant, equipment and machinery.
- Communicate using a range of methods. This will include delivering oral and written reports to colleagues and customers regarding the work carried out on equipment

GCSE or equivalent in:

Other requirements
Salary negotiable dependant upon experience. Based both indoors and outdoor regardless of the weather, happy and capable of driving a 3.5t service van, sometimes long distances 100-150 miles. Shortlisting and interviews will take place throughout the duration of the vacancy advert. This may mean that the vacancy could close before the published cut-off date should suitable candidates be found.
About this company
We are a family run engineering company - servicing both the agricultural and construction industries. Our work is predominately reactive to breakdown requirements on-site for our customers. Anything from fuel problems, hydraulics, welding etc We complete some customer vehicle repairs in out workshops and also engine rebuild and machine refurbs.
