Summary

This is an opportunity to join Fairhurst. You will be part of the design team, responsible for producing CAD drawings / Revit Models in 2D and 3D working alongside civil and structural engineers. For the right person, there is the opportunity to develop skills in design and drawing techniques within a fast-paced, busy workplace.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

Day to day tasks would include :-

  • Using CAD software to prepare engineering drawings in 2D and prepare Revit models / drawings in 3D.
  • Communicating these drawings with colleagues, customers and clients.
  • Attending site visits as and when required.
  • Attending site meetings, as and when required
  • Building knowledge and understanding of the product.
  • Learning how to use the software and applying this to project related tasks.

  • The course is delivered remotely via Teams, face to face and some of the examinations would take place at our training centre in Barnsley.
  • The vast majority of the course is delivered in the workplace or remotely.

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4 or above)
  • Mathematics (grade 4 or above)
  • Science (grade 4 or above)

Other requirements

The role of a digital engineering apprentice could be the first step into a varied and exciting career! You will need to have an interest in engineering and design, alongside the ability to manage your time well and work to strict deadlines. The role is mainly office-based, but there will also be opportunities to visit different sites, where you will be able to see what you have designed come to life. You will need to be aware of, and work to different industry standards. A mentor will work alongside you to support your development during the apprenticeship but you will also need to take responsibility for managing your own workload and show initiative.

After this apprenticeship

Once you have completed your apprenticeship, you will have the chance to work as a qualified digital engineering technician, which in turn can lead on to chartered technician EngTech with the Institute of Civil Engineers and other senior level roles within the organisation.
