We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated apprentice to join our Certified Accountants office in Bridge Road, Southall, and launch your business career with a growing company. This role offers personal and professional growth, hands-on experience, and support as you pursue an AAT qualification and further accounting credentials.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

The Finance Administrator Apprentice will work closely with the accountants. You will use a range of software - (full training will be provided), Microsoft Office and a company email account - to help maintain accurate business and financial records and consistent administration processes throughout the business. 

Duties and responsibilities will include but are not restricted to:

General reception duties, including:

  • Answering incoming calls, receiving deliveries, and greeting visitors
  • Liaising with clients and HMRC via telephone, email, and letter
  • Administration of client records
  • Assisting in accounts preparation
  • Administration of sales ledger
  • Ensuring that the policies of the company are observed, and that good practice is encouraged, particularly in the areas of health & safety, equal opportunities, and confidentiality 
  • The above is not an exhaustive list of duties, and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by the organisation which is relevant to your post within the company to meet the overall business objectives

Course contents
  • Record transactional data.
  • Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
  • Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
  • Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
  • Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
  • Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

Your training plan

Level 2 Accounts / Finance Assistant Apprenticeship Standard, which includes:

  • Level 2 AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting
  • Level 1/2 Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)
  • End-Point Assessment (EPA)

Essential qualifications

GCSE or equivalent in:

  • English (grade C/5)
  • Maths (grade C/5)

Located a 10 minute walk from Southall Station. This role involves working every Saturday and having Sunday/Monday off.
