Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

Joining a team of mortgage consultants, you will be responsible for providing them with direct administrative support. You will be taught how to help with research and production of new mortgage and protection business. You will be involved in processing all mortgage business from application stage to completion as well as providing great customer service to existing and prospective clients. 

In addition, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient functioning of the office through a range of administrative tasks including day-to-day accounts, invoicing and maintaining office systems, processes and procedures. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Set up new files
  • Manage phone calls
  • Ensure pipeline business is reviewed within the agreed KPI and service levels
  • Instruct solicitors
  • Liaise with other professionals across the business
  • Ensure that all files are stored correctly, and a clear desk policy is maintained at all times
  • Ensure that all communication is carried out within the agreed timeframes and the communication is clear to the customer, agents and solicitors at all times
  • Copy & Scan personal documents and collate for lenders packaging requirements
  • Check ID to requirements to FCA standard
  • Communicate with the lender throughout the process, providing additional information if required
  • Ensure that complaints are escalated
  • To proactively manage a pipeline of loan applications and to manage the expectations of customers
  • To provide agents and customers with accurate case updates at all points in the process.
  • To provide a high level of customer service at all stages of a loan application.
  • Provide key support to the running of the office.
  • General administration duties including dealing with inbound and outbound post and file scanning
  • Comply with FCA regulations
  • To comply with company standards and policies, e.g. Data Protection, Financial Crime, Treating Customers Fairly, Complaints Procedure etc.
  • Other ad hoc administrative duties as required
  • To take responsibility for ad hoc projects requested by Team Manager

Level 3 Financial Services Administrator apprenticeship standard.

The Financial Services Administrator apprenticeship is ideal for learners beginning an entry level role in the financial sector.

As an entry level role, this apprenticeship provides the foundation knowledge, skills and experience for progression along a number of career paths. The qualified apprentice will be prepared for advancement to positions including senior administrator, mortgage adviser and financial adviser roles.

Professional Qualifications:

Completion of CeMAP1 will provide a solid foundation for the learner and can lead on to progression to study in other areas.

To help prepare the apprentice for the professional qualification, Apprentices are provided with Simply Academy’s qualification resource package, alongside a structured study plan supported by a series of live revision sessions with our qualified tutors.

The Apprentice is assigned a dedicated experienced mentor to guide them through the programme. Regular scheduled interactions with the apprentice ensure they are developing the Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours required to become competent in the role.

After this apprenticeship

The right candidate will successfully complete their Apprenticeship in a permanent position and then decide their next step, whether that is to further their career as a Financial Services Administrator or whether to move into Financial Advice as a Mortgage Adviser. Alternatively, there is the facility to go down the Estate Agency route with our sister company, Bywater Herring. As a small family run business, there is considerable opportunity for growth.
