Summary

This is a great opportunity for a motivated individual to complete a Level 2 Accounts/Finance Apprenticeship. You will be an essential part of our friendly Accounts team, handling tasks like printing and coding invoices. You'll work alongside and be mentored by our team of three, who have over 45 years of combined experience at Hutton Construction!

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

Objectives:

  • To support the daily functioning of the Accounts department
  • To be cross trained in a variety of areas to provide cover when needed
  • To continually develop the skills required to take on future responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Managing the Accounts email boxes
  • Printing and coding invoices
  • Account statements reconciliations
  • Training to manage a Sub-contract division
  • Cross training in wages and Purchase Ledger
  • Completion of monthly journals
  • Other duties as they arise

  • Record transactional data.
  • Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
  • Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
  • Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
  • Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
  • Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

Your training plan

  • The apprentice will be working towards the Accounts or Finance Assistant Level 2 apprenticeship standard including the AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting
  • Classroom attendance at Colchester Institute (Colchester Campus) every other week

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade A*-E/9-2)
  • Maths (grade A*-D/9-3)
