Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

  • During the Business Management programme, you will be working alongside our Living Space team and learning about the industry, gaining experience through functional rotations
  • You’ll support key functions as you develop your understanding and skills in preparing tenders, interact with potential clients, and gain an appreciation of their needs and concerns
  • You will learn about commercial aspects of the industry and assist with administrative processes
  • Upon completion of the scheme, you will be able to develop your career in either Site Management or in a Commercial role

Course contents
  • Identify risk of activities and encourage all employees to demonstrate safety-conscious behaviours.
  • Assess, identify and record the environmental impact of projects.
  • Assist in the implementation of the most appropriate solutions for construction projects.
  • Use effective management principles and be able to supervise construction workers.
  • Understand overall plan for project and measure and record progress against plan.
  • Assess and report on quality standards and assist in commissioning of finished construction projects.
  • Understand financial and legal constraints and measure and record progress against budget.

Your training plan

  • You would be required to complete a Level 4 Construction site supervisor (Construction Site and Built Environment) apprenticeship standard through Leeds College of Building on a block release basis

Requirements

Essential qualifications

GCSE or equivalent in:

  • Maths & English (grade 4/C and above)
  • 2 A Levels (grade DD or above)
