Summary
We are seeking to appoint an Apprentice ICT Technician. The successful candidate will be supported to undertake and complete a Level 3 ICT qualification in partnership with Apprentify.

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
You will support the ICT Support Technicians who manage over 1800 devices and 80 virtual servers work across two campuses.
Typical duties will include:
- Undertaking the role of a network technician on a day to day basis
- Helping to maintain the running of the Academy network servers which consists of installing software, managing the Network Operating System, diagnosing and fixing faults and backing up servers
- Creating and maintaining help sheets, asset registers, and documentation
- Helping to maintain the Academy Network Infrastructure, which consists of maintenance and repair of switches, access points and routers
- Providing guidance and support to students and staff in the process of logging-in, using e-mail, and use of applications packages
- Helping to keep computer rooms tidy and within health and safety guidelines, which includes cleaning of computer equipment
- Helping the network technician to create, maintain and manage login accounts for staff and students including the monitoring and recording of equipment and network abuse
- Keeping up to date with software releases patches and technologies
- Assisting in the maintenance and development of the Academy Internet and Intranet sites
- Undertaking an additional role of responsibility as defined by the ICT Services Director

- You will be enrolled onto the groundbreaking, Level 3 Apprenticeship Information Communications Technician
- Information communications technicians support the delivery of efficient IT operations, this could be installing and configuring computer systems, diagnosing hardware and software faults, solving technical and applications problems either remotely or in person, including resolving issues such as slow performance, connection problems and an inability to access data
- Our ICT apprenticeship covers topics allowing apprentices to support organisations relying on computer and communication systems in all areas of their operations and decision-making processes
- As an ICT apprentice, you will develop skills and knowledge of the industry by learning key IT essentials such as fault finding and diagnostics, preventative measures, routine maintenance, system tools and testing
- You will also gain an awareness of cloud systems and physical and virtual network components including an awareness of security and firewalls, network architecture, protocols and principles of database migration
- Whether you have experience within the field or not Apprentify’s level 3 ICT apprenticeship will give you the tools to get your career started within IT support
