Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
- To provide administrative and secretarial services across the Acute Medicine Department.
- Support the Department with cross-cover responsibilities for our teams, including providing a communicative link for internal and external enquiries.
- Data entry into Trust systems.
- Assist with and manage the diaries of the Consultants within the team.
- Support with departmental meetings.
- Supporting the Records Assistants to ensure all filing is completed promptly and timely.
- To support general office duties such as photocopying, filing and taking telephone messages and passing them on efficiently.
- To shadow the Acute Medicine professionals to gain insight and knowledge of the role.
- Any other reasonable duties consistent with the role.

Your training plan
This is predominantly a work-based programme, which means that most of your learning will take place on the site of your employment and within your contracted working hours.
We host supporting workshops regularly throughout the apprenticeship, which you will attend in person at our Derby Road campus or remotely using Microsoft Teams. These workshops are carefully designed to support the learning required throughout the apprenticeship.
You will work with expert assessors to develop new knowledge, skills and behaviours within the profession.
You will experience a blended learning model.
You will gather learning evidence, journals and off-the-job records using your e-portfolio.
