We are looking for a bookkeeping administrator to work at an established accounting firm based in Boston. You should be be highly organized and proactive. Each day is different so you will need to be flexible to meet multiple deadlines. This would suit someone looking to start a career in the financial sector, or change of career.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

  • Processing invoices and receipts
  • Email monitoring
  • Adhere to a high quality of work ethic
  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure all transactions are recorded in a timely manner
  • Reconcile bank statements
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations
  • Utilise accounting software such Sage for efficient record-keeping
  • Filing paperwork
  • Adhoc administrative tasks

  • Record transactional data.
  • Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
  • Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
  • Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
  • Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
  • Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

    Accounts or Finance Assistant Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard:

    • This flexible apprenticeship is delivered in partnership with Mindful Education and combines online learning with regular sessions with a college tutor
    • Apprentices will learn foundation bookkeeping and accounting software skills

    For the accounts or finance assistant, the qualification required is:

    • AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting
    • Institute of Certified Bookkeepers Certificate in Bookkeeping
    • Institute of Accountants and Bookkeepers Level 2 Certificate in Accounting and Business

    Requirements

    Essential qualifications

    GCSE in:

    • English (grade 4)
    • Maths (grade 4)

    I have built the business up over the past 10 years and I have a close working relationship with all my clients . We are a small team who work closely together. We also work together with Penny Processor Accountants and will be launching a new Virtual Assistant business in 2024.
