Summary

Helping children in their daily lessons, supporting the teachers, attending to first aid issues, managing pupils at playtimes and lunchtimes and supporting children to move around the school site well. We are looking for two hard-working team players, who are willing to get stuck in and support with the daily running of primary classes.

£13,312 a year

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

One apprentice for Infants and one for the Junior, but both on the same site here in Dalston.

Two apprentice teaching assistants, to support with the daily running of classes at our happy school. We are specifically looking for people who are kind, hard-working, professional and willing to work as a part of an effective team.

The posts would suit those looking for a career as a teaching assistant or those looking to eventually progress and qualify as a teacher.

Duties include:

  • Helping children in their daily lessons.
  • Supporting the teachers.
  • Attending to first aid issues.
  • Managing pupils at playtimes and lunchtimes.
  • Supporting children to move around the school site well.

We are happy to start and 'onboard' our new team-members before the summer holiday, so they are ready to hit the ground running in September. This would have the added benefit of pay over the summer.

Specific requirements:

  • We are looking for two people who are kind and considerate, as well as being good team players, who are willing to work with others.
  • A good basic academic standard of English and maths is also needed.
  • Good computing and strong communication skills are also required.

  • Communicate with teachers to ensure clarity of the TA’s role.
  • Apply teaching strategies to deliver learning activities or interventions.
  • Build relationships with learners, teachers, other professionals and stakeholders.
  • Comply with legislation, guidance, and procedures for Prevent, safeguarding and health & safety.
  • Support the well-being and mental health of learners.
  • Observe, record, and report on learners in line with organisational procedures.
  • Apply methods of formative assessment.
  • Use up to date technology safely, to support learning.
  • Encourage safe use of technology by learners.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to support all learners (for example, scaffolding, open questioning).
  • Identify and respond to pastoral and academic behaviours in learners.
  • Provide feedback to learners.

    About this company

    We are a one-form entry, primary, free school serving the communities of Dalston, Stoke Newington and Shacklewell, in London. We opened our doors on Monday 7th September 2015 to offer local parents the opportunity to access the highest standards of education, blended from the best of the state and independent sectors. We have just over 200 children on site each day, and are based in a modern repurposed office block, with very good indoor educational facilities - inc. a library, art studio, conference room, music room, play room, breakfast club room, play room, sports hall, therapy room, main hall, classrooms and offices. Being a state school, we do not charge any fees, but are funded by the government.
