Summary

An ideal career entry level or development opportunity for the candidate with suitable prior accreditation into the plumbing and heating industry to cover all aspects of plumbing including installation of gas boilers, baths, sinks and toilets, hot and cold water and heating systems and general repairs working towards your ACS accreditation.

Annual wage: £13,312 to £23,795.20 a year

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

Duties will include:

Maintenance of domestic plumbing and heating systems
Installation of new systems
General maintenance and repairs
Boiler, Air source Heat Pumps and Unvented Cylinders installations
Boiler repairs, replacements & servicing
Emergency repairs
Central heating installations
Heated towel rail fitting
Immersion tank replacements & repairs
Waste disposals
Maintaining a clean work area
Soldering
To comply with all Health and Safety policies and procedures
To attend and fully participate in regular training and reviews

Identify and document hazards for the plumbing and domestic heating systems work. Apply control measures.
Carry out commission and handover procedures and techniques on plumbing and domestic heating systems (cold water, hot water, central heating, sanitary appliances, and rainwater).
Install, test, and commission, electrical and electrical control systems applicable to plumbing and domestic heating systems.
Perform routine service, maintenance, fault diagnosis and rectification procedures and techniques on the non-electrical components of plumbing and domestic heating systems.
Perform routine service, maintenance, fault diagnosis and rectification procedures and techniques on electrical and electrical control systems applicable to plumbing and domestic heating systems including industry safe isolation procedures.
Decommission plumbing and domestic heating systems.

Plumbing & Domestic Heating Level 3 Apprentice Standard – includes End -Point Assessment.

1 day per week attendance at Sheffield College – Advanced Technology Centre, Olive Grove campus over a 4 year term.
