Summary

We’re seeking a motivated Apprentice Site Supervisor to join our team and learn from experienced Site Managers. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in overseeing construction sites and developing essential skills in project management, understanding specifications, plans and drawings, health and safety and costs.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

  • Shadowing Site Managers: Work closely with seasoned professionals to understand the nuances of site management, learning from their expertise and guidance
  • General Site Operations: Take an active role in the day-to-day running of construction sites, including interpreting specifications, plans and drawings
  • Value Engineering: Contribute ideas and strategies for optimising project efficiency without compromising quality, ensure cost effectiveness and innovative problem solving
  • Cost Management: Gain insight into the financial aspects of construction projects, learning to assess cost implications and manage resources effectively
  • Health and Safety Compliance: Prioritise and uphold stringent safety protocols, ensuring a secure working environment for all team members and subcontractors
  • Project Timeline Management: Assist in coordinating activities to ensure timely completion of projects, developing skills in scheduling and project deadline adherence

Course contents
  • Identify risk of activities and encourage all employees to demonstrate safety-conscious behaviours.
  • Assess, identify and record the environmental impact of projects.
  • Assist in the implementation of the most appropriate solutions for construction projects.
  • Use effective management principles and be able to supervise construction workers.
  • Understand overall plan for project and measure and record progress against plan.
  • Assess and report on quality standards and assist in commissioning of finished construction projects.
  • Understand financial and legal constraints and measure and record progress against budget.

    • CertHE Site Management
    • Part-time 'day release' programme based on Anglia Ruskins Chelmsford campus
    • Construction site supervisor Level 4 (Higher national certificate)
    • Training schedule has yet to be agreed upon, further details will be made available at a later date

    Requirements

    Essential qualifications

    GCSE or equivalent in:

    • English and Maths and two other subjects (grade C/4 or above)
    • Any (grade 104 UCAS Points (DMM))

    Desirable qualifications

    A Level or equivalent in:

    • Any (grade 104 UCAS Points (BCC))

    • This Apprenticeship will include the knowledge, skills and behaviours typically required to achieve Technician status or the equivalent with the industry’s recognised professional bodies.
