Summary
Working with children aged 3 - 11 years across our two Before and After School Club settings, this role provides an excellent start to a career in childcare. Working with our Playworkers and Managers to support you, along with our training provider, this is an exciting opportunity to gain a qualification with real experience in the role.

Monday to Friday, 7.30am until 9.00am and 3.00pm - 6.00pm during term time. In addition you will have some training/support/admin time allocated outside of session times. Extra hours available during the school holidays at holiday club if desired.

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
- Taking part in activities and events for the children and demonstrating how to plan for learning.
- Keeping children happy, well cared for and safe during their time at Zac's Club.
- Attending every Breakfast and After School session each week, and working across the two settings to gain a varied and interesting picture of life at Zac's Club.
- Communicating with parents and teaching staff to ensure messages are passed on, and also sharing details of what the children have enjoyed doing each session.
- Taking instruction from managers and colleagues for the smooth running of the setting, and distribution of team members.
- Working as part of the team in a busy and fast paced environment.
- Bringing fun and enthusiasm to everything we do, working on your own initiative, and showing genuine care for children.
- Preparing healthy food options for the children to eat at breakfast and after school.

Your training plan
Working in conjunction with our training provider York Learning you will gain the following qualifications:
- Early Years Educator (level 3)
- Paediatric First Aid
- Level 3 Apprenticeship
You will have allocated training time each week either during the sessions, working at home, or in the office. Most of the training and work you need to complete will be done online, however you will be allocated both a mentor and line manager in the company who will support and assist you. A representative from York Learning will visit you in session, and observe your interactions with both children and the team.

GCSE or equivalent in:

Other requirements
Please be aware that this role involves split shifts each day, and we are in a rural location (albeit on the 415 bus route between York and Selby) so you must be able to get to us twice a day during term time. Our working hours are flexible during the holidays. We are also seeking someone who can demonstrate a genuine desire to work with children
