Northern Skills are recruiting on behalf of Tees Esk Wear Valley who are looking for a hardworking, motivated and enthusiastic candidate to join their team. During the course of this apprenticeship, you will be learning the role of a finance apprentice while also gaining a qualification.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

  • Working full time within the Patients’ Bank at Roseberry Park providing cashiering duties to service users and staff, update patient’s financial transactions on to the computerised system, issue monthly financial statements to patients and liaise with external agencies with regard to patient’s finances (Department for Work and Pensions/Benefits Agency/Financial Protection Team). Working at least one day a week at Flatts Lane Centre assisting the Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) teams.
  • To work within the Financial Control Department undertaking a range of clerical duties to support the financial systems within the section.
  • Accurate and timely update of patient personal details and financial transactions on a computerised financial ledger system and communication with all patient areas with regard to new, discharged or deceased patients.
  • Safekeeping and recording of patient valuables.
  • Liaising with external agencies with regard to patient’s finances (Department for Work and Pensions/Benefits Agency/Financial Protection Team).
  • Face to face contact with service users and employees of the Trust, providing a Patients’ Bank cashier service. Ensure that all cashiering duties are fulfilled and floats balanced and maintained in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • To promote at all times a positive image of people with mental health conditions and learning disabilities.
  • To promote at all times a positive image of the finance department and the wider Trust.
  • To act at all times in the best interest of patients and employees of the Trust.To undertake administrative tasks in relation to own workload.

  • Record transactional data.
  • Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
  • Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
  • Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
  • Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
  • Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

    Roseberry Park is made up of a number of self-contained ward units, clustered around closed landscaped courtyards. It has 365 inpatient beds and all the single, en-suite bedrooms are on the ground floor.
