The post is to work at Freshlings Nursery, to assist in delivering our curriculum which is designed to develop kind, creative, independent, curious and confident children who are ready to continue their love of learning at school. You will need to be a hands on, caring and empathetic person. You will need to have a professional attitude.

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
To be trained to undertake the same responsibilities as a Nursery Practitioner to provide a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for all children following the EYFS documents and Freshlings Nurseries policies and procedures.
Duties include but not limited to:
- Complete all training and assignments set by City College Plymouth in a timely manner
- Undertake all duties required for the successful completion of your level 3 award.
- Makes collaborative decisions with team members about immediate work priorities
- To be a play partner to children, engaging in sustained shared thinking.
- Undertakes the role of Key Person, producing Learning Journeys for individuals in partnership with parents, children, carers, and colleagues.
- Meets the care and welfare needs of children to a high standard.
- Works in partnership with other colleagues, parents and/or carers or other professionals/outside agencies to meet the individual needs of each child.
- Follows Statutory Framework for Early Years.
- Supports team members to achieve agreed targets and objectives
- Responds to the needs of the customers/partners and escalates service issues and queries to more experienced team members if necessary.
- Follows standard H&S guidelines and report issues to senior team members or escalate as necessary. This job description provides a general reflection of the key accountabilities associated with the post; it is expected that the role holder will undertake any other reasonable activities to assist in efficient service delivery.
- Adheres to safeguarding guidelines - reporting issues to appropriate team members.
- Handles pastoral care issues with sensitivity as presented by children/parents/carers/stakeholders.
- Respects confidentiality at all times.
- Moderate physical effort may be required for specific periods in the role
- Delivers a professional and high-quality customer service.
- Ensures all activities are undertaken according to Freshlings policies, procedures and working practices as well as the University and UCSP safety policies.
- Acts in a way that demonstrates the University’s and UCSP commitment to Equality and Diversity for staff, students and partners. Measures of Success:
- Successful delivery of key priorities and objectives agreed as part of the performance review process.
