Summary
We are a tier 3 referral hospital that sees a wide variety of cases on a day to day basis. We can promise a varied and interesting work day, along side in-house training within a rewarding industry. You will be assisting our RVNs and Veterinary Surgeons with the restraint of patients.

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
- Assisting our RVNs and Veterinary Surgeons with the restraint of patients.
- Assisting with in-patient care
- Running blood samples
- Preparing theatre and ensuring kits are sterile and ready for use
- Maintaining high standards of clinical cleanliness
- Cleaning kennels and wards
- Any other duties as required

Training
An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

- Training remotely via Myerscough college by completing a portfolio of work - No travel to college as all work is done remotely.
- In-house support via registered veterinary nurses and senior auxiliary nurse.
- At the end of the course you will have achieved a Level 2 Diploma in Animal Care

Essential qualifications
GCSE or equivalent in:
- Maths, English and Science (grade Level 2 or equivalent)

Other requirements
Candidates will be required, at times to lift patients heavier than 15kg. Instruction on how to do so will be given during the apprenticeship. Candidates will also be required to deal with clinical waste and maintaining a high level of cleanliness will be expected at all times.

After this apprenticeship
Candidates could progress onto Veterinary Nursing once training is completed - this may not necessarily be available within our practice but gaining the relevant skills and qualifications at our practice would provide you with the foundations you need to start your career within the veterinary industry.
