Summary

The successful candidate will be part of a team involved in highly skilled, complex precision work producing cast and aluminium tooling for the plastic industry. This work will be carried out using conventional and CNC machining centres. The apprentice will attend Block Release at Stephenson College, Coalville.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

Daily tasks could include (under full supervision whilst training):

  • Operate a CNC Machining Centre
  • CAD/CAM
  • To operate conventional machining on a manual miller and lathes
  • A willingness to learn different skills, such as welding, woodwork and general bench work, e.g. drilling, tapping, fabrication, grinding, etc.

About this company

M J S Patterns and Moulds Ltd specialise in tooling and patterns for the rotational moulding, blow moulding, and foundry industries. You will be part of a small experienced team of toolmakers/designers/CNC programmers/CNC operators in providing an excellent service and meeting the needs of our customers.

After this apprenticeship

  • Completing the apprenticeship modules Levels 2 will result in the offer of a full-time position as an engineering operator and consideration for further study on to a level 3
  • This is providing the Apprentice works within the company rules and guidelines which will be explained during the induction period
