Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

Some of the your duties, but not limited to are;

  • Learning and understanding the theory of engines.
  • How to operate the specialist day-to-day machinery used to repair and re-manufacture worn, damaged engines and components
  • Manufacture replacement parts.

Eventually you will learn to possess the ability to specialise in key areas such as; Crankshaft grinding, line boring, cylinder head re-conditioning, vertical boring and honing.

In addition to working to drawings and manufacturing tooling and components.

Qualifications achieved:

Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Competence)
Level 2 Diploma in Mechatronics (Knowledge)
You will be required to achieve the following qualifications:

Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Competence) - Mechatronics
Level 3 Diploma or Extended Diploma in Machining/Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Knowledge)

Essential qualifications

GCSE or equivalent in:

  • English (grade Grade 4/C or above)
