Aston Mullins Stud are looking for an enthusiastic apprentice to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a company who will give the successful candidate the support and platform to develop their skills and launch a career in the equine sector.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

This is a great opportunity for a Level 3 Equine Apprentice to get stuck in with the daily running of the stud, including, but not limited to:

  • Mucking out
  • Turning out/bringing in
  • Tacking up and tack cleaning
  • Feeding and filling hay nets
  • Clipping/pulling/plaiting/trimming
  • Bathing and rug changing
  • First aid
  • Exercising horses from the ground (lunging, horse walker, long reining, pessoa training etc.)
  • Holding for vet/farrier/dentist

An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

Desirable qualifications

GCSE or equivalent in:

  • English (grade 4)
  • Maths (grade 4)

Other requirements

Previous experience working with horses is essential. A reference will be required. Candidates must be hard working and keen to succeed in the equine industry. A good sense of humour is a must! Accommodation is available if required.

Aston Mullins Stud is owned by Simon and Mags Hope whose life-long passion for racing and bloodstock led to them acquiring the present 300-350 acre farm in the heart of the Vale of Aylesbury in 2000.
