This position is an ideal opportunity for someone starting their data career, with a keen interest in tech, systems, and problem solving. You’ll work across different areas of the business to support how we use data day-to-day, from reporting and documentation to managing key processes and helping us improve how our data is used and maintained.

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you’ll do at work
- Support with building and updating reports
- Help manage project plans, actions and progress updates
- Join meetings with stakeholders and take notes or actions
- Maintain data documentation and admin records
- Review existing reports and flag issues or gaps
- Support managing data taxonomy and master data files
- Help manage data load schedules and investigate errors

Course contents
- Source and migrate data from already identified different sources.
- Collect, format and save datasets.
- Summarise and explain gathered data.
- Blend data sets from multiple sources and present in format appropriate to the task.
- Manipulate and link different data sets as required.
- Use tools and techniques to identify trends and patterns in data.
- Apply basic statistical methods and algorithms to identify trends and patterns in data.
- Apply cross checking techniques for identifying faults and data results for data project requirements.
- Audit data results.
- Demonstrate the different ways of communicating meaning from data in line with audience requirements.
- Produce clear and consistent technical documentation using standard organisational templates.
- Store, manage and distribute in compliance with data security standards and legislation.
- Explain data and results to different audiences in a way that aids understanding.
- Review own development needs.
- Keep up to date with developments in technologies, trends and innovation using a range of sources.
- Clean data i.e. remove duplicates, typos, duplicate entries, out of date data, parse data (e.g. format telephone numbers according to a national standard) and test and assess confidence in the data and its integrity.
- Operate as part of a multi-functional team.
- Prioritise within the context of a project.

Your training plan
Successful completion of this apprenticeship gives you an accredited Level 3 Data Technician, with training in how to:
- Identify the right data sources for your business to inform decision-making
- Collect, compile and cleanse data accurately and securely
- Identify, analyse and interpret data, trends, and patterns
- Produce dashboards and reports to aid visualisation and comparison
Requirements
Essential qualifications
GCSE in:
- 5 GCSE's including Maths and English (grade 5)
