Summary

As an Apprentice Construction Site Supervisor, you’ll play a key supporting role in the successful delivery of the project. You’ll work across multiple elements of the project, including site logistics, subcontractor coordination, safety compliance, and client interaction.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you’ll do at work

Managing the daily construction activities on the site and ensuring smooth operation:

  • Creating daily activity planning and defining necessary site attendances
  • Ordering plant & equipment required on site
  • Call in transports and ensure access and site logistics are well coordinated

Supervision of staff, ensure coordination and attendances:

  • Monitor progress on site
  • Record nonconformities and risks
  • Manage ITP’s, inspect, record and report quality issues

Ensure Health & Safety practices are followed on site:

  • Ensure RAMS are updated, maintained, and registered
  • Prepare and conduct site inductions, toolbox talks and standard inspections
  • Coordinate the every-day H&S on site, audit and correct operative’s behaviour
  • Action any external H&S audit comments

Course contents
  • Identify risk of activities and encourage all employees to demonstrate safety-conscious behaviours.
  • Assess, identify and record the environmental impact of projects.
  • Assist in the implementation of the most appropriate solutions for construction projects.
  • Use effective management principles and be able to supervise construction workers.
  • Understand overall plan for project and measure and record progress against plan.
  • Assess and report on quality standards and assist in commissioning of finished construction projects.
  • Understand financial and legal constraints and measure and record progress against budget.

  • Construction Site Supervisor Level 4 Apprenticeship Standard
  • The apprentice will receive formal off-the-job training via regular remote sessions with an external training provider

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4/C)
  • Maths (grade 4/C)
  • Science (grade 4/C)

Other in:

  • CSCS (grade Pass)

Other requirements

Due to local council requirements, applications can only be considered from residents of Stevenage. The apprentice will need to be willing to work outdoors in all weathers. The apprentice will need to successfully complete their CSCS test before starting the apprenticeship.
