Summary

At DB Cargo UK, we're looking for a Fitter to join our Wagon Maintenance Team at Stoke. As a Wagon Fitter, you'll be responsible for maintaining, overhauling and refurbishing rolling stock in accordance with the relevant regime and specifications. Due to Health and Safety, the apprentice will need to be at least 18 years old.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you’ll do at work

  • To maintain/overhaul and refurbish rolling stock in accordance with the relevant regime and specification
  • This includes but is not limited to - fault finding, rectification work, damage repairs, modification and work arising
  • To ensure that stock levels are kept and stock is stored correctly.
  • To order/reorder stock as required
  • To carry out damage reports/overload inspections on behalf of the customer and provide all documentation including photographs when required
  • To submit quotes and final costs for 3rd party work
  • Complete all relevant documentation relating to all work carried out on any rolling stock vehicle
  • To correctly file/store all rolling stock documentation

Essential qualifications

GCSE or equivalent in:

  • English or Maths (grade 3 or above)

Other requirements

Upon completion of the apprenticeship, will move to a Mon-Thurs working week with potential of overtime on Fridays. Apprentice must be at least 18 years old due to Health and Safety.

We provide freight, infrastructure and passenger charter trains throughout the UK, and freight services to and from mainland Europe via the Channel Tunnel. We also provide traction and train crew for scheduled passenger operators.
