Apprentice Plumbing and Heating Engineer (with Gas)

Summary

Attending college training days, as required, you’ll have excellent interpersonal skills when dealing with colleagues, customers and clients, along with an understanding of internal processes, and apply them. You’ll be trained to deliver a high-quality service, working efficiently and safely, whilst achieving excellent customer experience results.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you’ll do at work

Attend all required college training days as the apprenticeship requires
Demonstrating good interpersonal skills and cultural awareness when dealing with colleagues, customers and clients during tasks
Understand internal processes and apply them in working practices
Observe and shadow to learn tasks, developing the ability to work independently and to take responsibility
Demonstrate a willingness to follow instruction and learn new tasks, taking personal responsibility for your own development
Be compliant with uniform, dress code or PPE requirements for your role
Assist with diligent problem solving, resolve and complete jobs at first visit to achieve excellent customer experience results, undertaking fault-finding and diagnostic work as determined by training/within competency under supervision
Work in conjunction with the Team to deliver a reliable service

Plan tasks within plumbing and domestic heating systems industry.
Identify and document hazards for the plumbing and domestic heating systems work. Apply control measures.
Carry out commission and handover procedures and techniques on plumbing and domestic heating systems (cold water, hot water, central heating, sanitary appliances, and rainwater).
Install, test, and commission, electrical and electrical control systems applicable to plumbing and domestic heating systems.
Perform routine service, maintenance, fault diagnosis and rectification procedures and techniques on the non-electrical components of plumbing and domestic heating systems.
Perform routine service, maintenance, fault diagnosis and rectification procedures and techniques on electrical and electrical control systems applicable to plumbing and domestic heating systems including industry safe isolation procedures.

Your training plan

You will complete the Level 3 Plumbing and Domestic Heating Technician apprenticeship with Leeds College of Building
The apprentice will be required to attend workshops either virtual or on college campus over the period of their apprenticeship and develop the knowledge required to support their end point assessment
The apprentice will also be required to complete college assessments on site as well as completing written work alongside
