Local family run Home Improvement company seeks customer focused apprentice to train in all aspects of accountancy with a varied daily job role.

Wage

£13,741 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you’ll do at work

  • Daily tasks- listing sales from trade counter, entering sales into Sales ledger & cash book, entering purchase invoices into Purchase ledger, entering sales & purchases onto sage, creating  files for new customers, answering customer or suppliers enquiries on the telephone or by email. 
  • Weekly tasks- reconcilling petty cash & other date dependant tasks. 
  • Monthly tasks- reconcilling everything including bank statements, cash books, sales ledgers, purchase ledgers & many other tasks.

Course contents
  • Record transactional data.
  • Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
  • Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
  • Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
  • Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
  • Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

Your training plan

Training takes place one day a week at Petroc College Barnstaple for Accounts Assistant Level 2 and the remaining days monday to friday will be worked at our office in Roundswell.

The apprenticeship will start in September, however you will start working with us immediately after a successful interview

Requirements

Essential qualifications

GCSE or equivalent in:

  • English (grade 4 or above)

GCSE in:

  • Mathmatics (grade 5 or above)

After completing level 2 it is encouraged to progress to level 3.
