Summary

We are looking to rapidly expand by recruiting new ambitious, driven and enthusiastic individuals to join our team. The main role of the apprentices will be assisting the warehouse manager to pick and pack orders.

Wage

£14,918.80 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you’ll do at work

Duties to include, but not limited to:

  • Ensure deliveries are accurate and counted correctly
  • Check for damaged and missing items
  • Assist in loading shipments
  • Dispatching company orders on computer system
  • Loading onto freight transport
  • Stock checks as required
  • Assisting planning for stock rotation and optimisation of space
  • Assisting in developing warehouse performance and organisation
  • Assisting in security of warehouse and contents

  • Conduct risk assessments within the working environment.
  • Apply safe working practices in line with associated health and safety legislation and company policy.
  • Receive products in line with organisational procedures.
  • Store and pick products in line with organisational procedures.
  • Dispatch products in line with organisational procedures.
  • Decant, pack products in line with organisational procedures.
  • Communicate with others verbally, for example internal and external customers, colleagues, and managers.
  • Communicate in writing with others, for example internal and external customers, colleagues and managers.
  • Load and unload products, considering the product that is to be moved and its current and planned destination.
  • Use tools and equipment to aid in product handling.
  • Use information technology and digital systems. Comply with GDPR and cyber security.
  • Locate and use operational information, electronic or paper based, required to fulfil contractual requirements.
  • Select, prepare, and use packaging materials that reduce waste and mitigate environmental impacts.
  • support under instruction scheduled and unscheduled stock taking activities relevant to the organisation and product.
  • Identify and escalate problems beyond own responsibility.
  • Follow procedures in line with environmental and sustainability regulations, standards, and guidance. Segregate resources for reuse, recycling and disposal.
  • Follow equity, diversity and inclusion rules.
  • Carry out and record learning and development activities.

Your training plan

  • The successful candidates will study the Level 2 Supply Chain Warehouse Operative apprenticeship standard at Kirklees College
  • In College, one day a month over the full period of the apprenticeship
  • The final year will involve completion of a portfolio and preparation for End Point Assessment (EPA). This measures the skills, knowledge and behaviours outlined in the standard and is carried out by ESFA approved organisations independent from the college
  • Apprentices without Level 2 English and maths will need to achieve this prior to taking the End Point Assessment

Desirable qualifications

GCSE or equivalent in:

  • maths and English (grade 3/D or above)

After this apprenticeship

  • Subject to satisfactory completion of the apprenticeship, we are looking to take on the apprentices as full-time members of staff
