What you’ll do at work

Bedfordshire Car Sales Ltd in Leighton Buzzard are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Accident Repair Technician Apprentice to join their expert team. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in vehicle body repair and refinishing while working towards a nationally recognised qualification.

  • You will be assisting in repairing vehicle bodywork, including dent removal, panel replacement, and welding
  • As well as learning how to prepare and refinish vehicle surfaces to a high standard
  • Gain proficiency in using specialist tools and equipment in accordance with industry best practices
  • Ensuring you are following health and safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment
  • You will be completing training modules and coursework as part of the apprenticeship program

Your training course

Vehicle damage paint technician (level 3)

Equal to A level

Course contents
  • Ability to undertake appropriate job preparation prior to commencing repair e.g. substrate surface preparation, paint volume calculation etc
  • Ability to correctly identify the substrate materials to be refinished e.g. plastic, steel, aluminium etc
  • Ability to interpret relevant technical data and methods to create paint manufactures specified application
  • Ability to use refinishing materials following paint manufacturer specifications to reinstate vehicle finish back to high quality
  • Ability to identify and operate the correct repair tools, equipment and devices used in the process e.g mixing systems, paint booths, UV lamps and spray equipment

Your training plan

  • Level 3 Vehicle Damage Paint Technician
  • Level 2 Functional Skills in English and maths if required

Desirable qualifications

GCSE or equivalent in:

  • Maths (grade 3)
  • English (grade 3)
