Summary

The Leigh UTC and Inspiration Academy has an exciting opportunity to appoint a motivated and engaging individual who will join us as a Teaching Assistant (Apprentice). Our successful candidate will provide support for pupils who have a range of specific needs, an opportunity to make a real difference to their development.

Wage

£13,741 to £22,222.20, depending on your age

National Minimum Wage

Working weeks: Monday - Friday, Term Time + 1 week inset Total hours per week: 35 (including the 20% training element of the Apprenticeship) - start and finish times to be agreed.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you’ll do at work

  • Assisting students with their educational and social development, on an individual and group basis
  • Providing support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities
  • Assisting teachers with the maintenance of student records
  • Building and maintaining successful relationships with students, whilst treating them with respect and consideration
  • Provide expertise to deliver a personalised curriculum for each pupil’s learning
  • Have the highest expectation that every pupil will make sustained academic and personal progress

  • Build relationships with learners, teachers, other professionals and stakeholders.
  • Comply with legislation, guidance, and procedures for Prevent, safeguarding and health & safety.
  • Support the well-being and mental health of learners.
  • Observe, record, and report on learners in line with organisational procedures.
  • Apply methods of formative assessment.
  • Use up to date technology safely, to support learning.
  • Encourage safe use of technology by learners.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to support all learners (for example, scaffolding, open questioning).
  • Identify and respond to pastoral and academic behaviours in learners.
  • Provide feedback to learners.
  • Apply strategies to support and encourage the development of independent learners.
