You will be an essential part of the team responsible for monitoring packet and broadcast data, installing routers/switches, fixing 1st line support issues and so much more to enhance your skills as a networking technician.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you’ll do at work

  • Assist customers with diagnosing and resolving computer-related issues, offering expert guidance and effective solutions
  • Perform key IT support tasks, including password resets, router configurations, and phone system maintenance
  • Troubleshoot network issues using diagnostic tools such as Wireshark, Ping, Traceroute, and other network analysis techniques
  • Automate administrative tasks and streamline workflows using PowerShell
  • Accurately document customer inquiries, technical issues, and resolutions to maintain detailed support records
  • Install, repair, and maintain computers, printers, peripherals, and network equipment to ensure optimal functionality
  • Analyse call logs to identify recurring technical issues, enabling proactive problem resolution and system improvements

  • Install hardware or software, either physically or virtually.

  • Test and evaluate performance, functionality, and usability of solutions to ensure compliance with customer and project requirements.
  • Deploy and implement solutions, supporting change management practices.
  • Create and maintain documentation in accordance with best practice and organisational requirements.
  • Support multiple contemporary or legacy solutions to required levels of service.
  • Apply organisational policies and legislation in relation to security requirements, privacy, and confidentiality.
  • Communicate using a variety of tools and approaches, adapting language for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Apply continuous professional development CPD to support their own learning, business needs and technical developments.
