Summary

Assist the GIS team, surveyors and directors in the day-to-day workings of the business which will see apprentices involved in a variety of projects from energy generation such as wind and solar farms, energy storage projects such as battery and hydrogen and assist in keeping the canals and waterways running as well as the roads.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you’ll do at work

Work:

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work:

The candidate can expect to undertake the following in day-to-day life at FGP:  

  • Assisting the GIS team, surveyors and directors in the day to day running of the business 
  • Attending progress meetings with clients and contractors on-site surveying
  • Inspect proposed routes for cables and pipelines 
  • Undertake land searches for solar farms and battery storage sites

An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

At the end of the apprenticeship the candidate will receive a BSc (Hons) Geospatial Mapping and Science Specialist.
FGP can support your APC to achieve MRICS on the Geomatics Surveyor Route

Requirements - Essential qualifications:

A Level or equivalent in:

  • 3 A Levels within relevant subjects Grade B B C or 112 UCAS Points
  • Let the company know about other relevant qualifications and industry experience you have. Entry may be granted for the right candidate

A firm of rural chartered surveyors that specialise in the energy and infrastructure sector. We specialise in progressing renewable developments from site finding and guiding the client through to signing of an Option for Lease. At FGP we act for the developer rather than the landowner.

After this apprenticeship

FGP can support your APC to achieve MRICS on the Geomatics Surveyor Route.

Once qualified the candidate would take on the management of projects they had worked on, tender for their own work, and progress through seniority levels within the company.
