Summary

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Paint Shop Apprentice to join our team in Malvern. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in automotive painting and finishing, working on our iconic hand-built vehicles.

Wage

£14,918.80 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you’ll do at work

  • Learn and apply various automotive painting techniques, including primer application, base coat, and clear coat finishing
  • Prepare vehicle surfaces by sanding, masking, and priming to achieve a flawless paint finish
  • Mix and match paints to meet required specifications
  • Use spray guns and specialist equipment under expert supervision
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and organised paint shop environment
  • Follow health and safety procedures, ensuring compliance with industry standards
  • Work alongside skilled professionals, developing hands-on skills and industry knowledge
  • Conduct quality control checks to ensure the highest level of finish
  • Participate in structured training sessions and assessments as part of the Vehicle Damage Paint Technician Level 3 qualification

Vehicle damage paint technician (level 3)

Equal to A level

Course contents
  • Ability to undertake appropriate job preparation prior to commencing repair e.g. substrate surface preparation, paint volume calculation etc
  • Ability to correctly identify the substrate materials to be refinished e.g. plastic, steel, aluminium etc
  • Ability to interpret relevant technical data and methods to create paint manufactures specified application
  • Ability to use refinishing materials following paint manufacturer specifications to reinstate vehicle finish back to high quality
  • Ability to identify and operate the correct repair tools, equipment and devices used in the process e.g mixing systems, paint booths, UV lamps and spray equipment

Your training plan

  • Vehicle damage paint technician Level 3 (A level) Apprenticeship Standard
  • This apprenticeship will be 4 days in the work place and one day a week your will be expected to attened sandwell college for training

Requirements

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4/C)
  • Math's (grade 4/C)

  • Upon successful completion, apprentices will achieve a Level 3 Vehicle Damage Paint Technician qualification. Apprentices who excel may be considered for permanent employment at Morgan Motor Company
