Summary

You will cover broad based training in many aspects of Aerospace Manufacture, specialising as a craft apprentice. When onsite, apprentices will work alongside trained staff to enhance their skills, putting into practice what they have learnt at In-Comm Training Services.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

We are seeking to employ and train 3 craft apprentices.

 

You will receive broad-based training covering many aspects of Aerospace Manufacture, specialising as a craft apprentice. You can become a Skilled Fitter / Welder.

Job role will include:

  • Shadowing skilled fitters / welders and manufacturing engineers
  • Fitting
  • Welding
  • Performance acceptance testing
  • Continuous improvements activities

Using:

  • Joining Techniques - Vacuum Brazing, Welding capability
  • Heat Treatment and Chemical Processing capability
  • Components produced from a variety of different materials

Apprentices will be required to comply with all ethical, environmental and safety regulations. While onsite apprentices will rotate during year 2 throughout departments to ensure competency in all required skill sets.

Your training plan

  • This is a 4 year Level 3 Engineering Technician qualification
  • You will be required to attend the training centre, In-Comm Training Services in Telford, TF3 3AJ, full time for the first 12 months to undertake a variety of engineering training and theory work.

Qualifications include:

  • Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence)
  • Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence) – Technical Support
  • Level 3 Diploma or Extended Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)

Essential qualifications

GCSE or equivalent in:

  • English (grade 5)
  • Maths (grade 5)
