Summary

Our apprentices are the future of our business and on our 15-month apprenticeship programme you will learn the skills to become a successful Warehouse Operative, with a fantastic range of future career opportunities ahead of you. Following successful completion of your apprenticeship you may be offered a permanent role.

Wage
£16,750 a year

Starting salary is £16750 and there will be annual incremental increases.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

On a daily basis you’ll work within one of our service centres where you will learn to:

  • Receive, manage, and move stock within a warehouse environment to facilitate the safe handling of goods and an effective service to customers
  • Co-ordinate and arrange products after delivery and when required for dispatch
  • Ensure vehicles are loaded/unloaded effectively & efficiently
  • Maintain warehouse organisation and housekeeping standards, ensuring processes meet safety and quality requirements
  • Develop effective equipment storage processes, moving, organising, and racking products
  • Maintain accurate administration records & documentation, monitoring all stock effectively using relevant technology and systems
  • Manage the fleeting/engraving process for equipment
  • Develop in-depth product knowledge, continually expanding your skills
  • Build excellent working relationships with customers and understand their business needs and requirements
  • Become an ambassador for our “Customer First” culture, resolving any issues quickly and keeping your colleagues and customers informed, so they feel truly valued
  • Enhance your team working skills with your colleagues and the wider Sunbelt Rentals team
  • Manage multiple tasks and deadlines as part of a varied workday in a fast-paced operational environment
  • Operate within a highly developed safety culture within a focused team environment

  • Load and unload products, considering the product that is to be moved and its current and planned destination.
  • Use tools and equipment to aid in product handling.
  • Use information technology and digital systems. Comply with GDPR and cyber security.
  • Locate and use operational information, electronic or paper based, required to fulfil contractual requirements.
  • Select, prepare, and use packaging materials that reduce waste and mitigate environmental impacts.
  • support under instruction scheduled and unscheduled stock taking activities relevant to the organisation and product.
  • Identify and escalate problems beyond own responsibility.
  • Follow procedures in line with environmental and sustainability regulations, standards, and guidance. Segregate resources for reuse, recycling and disposal.

Your training plan

You will be completing a level 2 Supply Chain Warehouse Operative Apprenticeship Standard. This will be delivered using a combination of:

  • Workplace experience to gain practical skills
  • Guidance and training from an experienced workplace mentor
  • Industry recognised training leading to an apprenticeship qualification
  • This will be delivered within the workplace

Requirements

Desirable qualifications

GCSE in:

  • Maths and English (grade 3/C or above)
