Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

In this role they will acquire the following expertise and be trained on:

  • Checking Azure Pipeline Runs: Monitoring and ensuring that data pipelines are running smoothly. This includes checking for any failures or delays and troubleshooting issues as they arise 
  • Resolving Issues: Addressing any problems that occur within the data infrastructure. This could involve debugging code, fixing data inconsistencies, or optimizing performance
  • Engaging with the Wider Business: Collaborating with different departments to understand their data needs and acquiring new data sources. This might involve meetings, gathering requirements, and integrating new data into existing systems
  • Data Cleaning and Preparation: Ensuring that data is clean, accurate, and ready for analysis. This can include tasks like removing duplicates, handling missing values, and transforming data into a usable format
  • Documentation: Keeping detailed records of processes, changes, and issues. Good documentation helps maintain clarity and continuity within the team
  • Supporting Senior Engineers: Assisting more experienced engineers with larger projects and learning from their expertise

  • Apply appropriate approaches to scope, plan and perform Business Analysis
  • Communicate effectively in a variety of situations with a range of stakeholders
  • Apply a range of structured investigation techniques to a business situation
  • Produce an outline definition of a business situation using an appropriate technique
  • Apply appropriate techniques to identify problems and opportunities within a business situation
  • Support the identification and presentation of proposed actions to stakeholders in order to gain agreement for further analysis activity
  • Apply appropriate techniques to analyse and document options and recommendations for change
  • Elicit process information from stakeholders
  • Model business processes using relevant techniques, standards, notation and software tools
  • Analyse business process models to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Produce models of redesigned business processes
  • Elicit requirements from stakeholders to identify business and user needs
  • Document clear functional and non-functional requirements in line with local standards

Your training plan

You will receive the certificate of completion of Data Analyst Level 4 Apprenticeship Standard.

You’ll complete your apprenticeship through Firebrand Training Limited via a mix and blend of online/virtual learning and periodic residential block release at their dedicated training centre in Wyboston Lakes, Bedford where accommodation will be provided.

Essential qualifications

GCSE or equivalent in:

  • 5 of any subject including Maths & English (grade 4/C)

Desirable qualifications

A Level or equivalent in:

  • Similar subject (grade Any)

BTEC or equivalent in:

  • Similar subject (grade Any)
