Summary
You will be responsible for a range of financial & reporting services to staff, students & external organisations. You will support planning processes by managing resources in a controlled manner. Supporting with team objectives ensuring department data, regulatory returns, reports & operational practices are performed in an efficient manner.

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
Your duties will include:
- To support the team of system and finance data experts.
- To support fostering a culture of continuous improvement across the Finance and Commercial function.
- To support in ensuring all university monthly performance reports, including Board level reports as well as budget holder reports, optimising the use of PowerBi and other FinTech tools where possible.
- Assist in the work of other areas of the Finance & Commercial Department, as appropriate.
- Ensure the department’s internal website is fit for purpose and up-to-date.
- Ensure the team’s timetable of monthly and annual activities captures all of the main tasks and up to date.
- To verify and process journals, ensuring input is kept up to date and complete for the monthly reporting processes.
- To produce and maintain relevant procedure manuals, developing administrative procedures where necessary.
- To provide assistance to the team on ad hoc projects, as required.
- To carry out other finance administration tasks as and when required.
- To process inter-departmental charges as appropriate (Telecoms, Reprographics, etc.) in a timely manner.
• To provide information to assist in the production of external returns and for internal and external audit purposes, as directed by line manager. - To verify and process electronic input to Agresso for actual, budget and forecast.
- Deputise as and when required by the Line Manager.
- You will be required to support and engage in open days and other University events as appropriate, to promote your service area and the University as a whole.

- Record transactional data.
- Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
- Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
- Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
- Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
- Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
- Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

Your training plan
- AAT Level 2 Foundation Certificate in Accounting. College delivery half a day per week, or a blended approach, with half a day in College one week and half a day online the following week.

Other requirements
We would like a candidate with willingness to undertake further studies to become AAT qualified. You will be employed by the University of Gloucestershire Professional Services Limited (UoGPSL), or the University of Gloucestershire for staff with existing continuous LGPS or USS service. Learning outcomes we will provide to support you; • Practical knowledge to support your studies in understanding financial ledgers. • Advanced financial analysis utilising ERP software. • Budgeting / forecasting scenario planning. • Financial reporting and compliance. • Using FinTech tools to leverage business intelligence through the use of SQL, Power BI, PowerApps, Excel.
