Summary
Our apprenticeship scheme provides students with the knowledge and training they need to pursue a career in engineering. At Progressive Technology, the first year of the apprenticeship will be spent in our purpose-built training academy, with full support provided by our Apprentice Training Manager and fulltime Apprentice Trainers.

From the second year of the apprenticeship, as long as the employee is over 18, this will be:
Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm.

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
- You will learn basic machining and hand fitting skills, progressing onto basic CNC machining through a series of supervised machining tasks, you will manufacture number of engineering tools and components.

In your first year, you will work on a variety of machines in the training academy including:
Centre Lathes
Vertical Milling Machines
Surface Grinding
CNC Lathe
CNC 3-Axis & 5-Axis Milling Machines
CAD / CAM Training - In addition to the hands-on machining training listed above, you will also receive monthly academic classroom-based training.

After this apprenticeship
Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship 3 Years:
After the successful completion of your first year Level 2 qualification, you will have the opportunity to progress to Level 3 for years 2 & 3 You will transfer from the Academy to the main manufacturing facility, where you will continue to develop your skills working in various departments throughout the factory.
Technician Engineering Apprenticeship 4 Years:
After your first year at Level 3, you will transfer from the Academy to the main manufacturing facility where you will continue your level 3 for year 2, developing your skills by working in various departments throughout the factory.
After the successful completion of your Level 3 qualification, you will continue to develop your skills and education progressing to Level 4 HNC qualification in years 3 & 4.
