Summary

Our Actuarial apprenticeship programme will help you learn how to analyse data, assess risks and create models to drive intelligent decision-making. You’ll work alongside expert actuaries to use numerical, team-working, communication and interpersonal skills. This is a permanent role, your apprenticeship is just the start of your career with us!

Wage: £23,387 a year

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9.00am - 5.00pm.
35 hours a week
Possible start date: Monday 8 September

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you’ll do at work

Actuaries use maths and statistics to help us predict and manage risks. This helps us understand when our customers might need our support.

Your role could involve:

Figuring out risks and how much things should cost.
Build models to predict future outcomes.
Calculate the cost of life insurance policies based on different scenarios.
Create reports to share your findings.
Make sure everything follows the rules.
Give advice on smart ways to invest and plan finances.
Keep an eye on insurance programmes to make sure they stay strong.

Course contents

Obtain, analyse, model and interpret data to solve actuarial challenges and meet stakeholder objectives.
Analyse and logically apply actuarial techniques to given requirements and understand actuarial principles and calculations.
Plan and deliver actuarial tasks such as analysis and calculations within the required timescales.
Adapt to new requests or unforeseen events to maintain delivery of actuarial tasks.
Develop and maintain stakeholder relationships through providing a responsive service.
Identify internal stakeholder requirements and manage expectations as necessary.
Use digital applications and software to deliver data analysis, data visualisations and mathematical models to assist in actuarial tasks.
Use digital technologies safely and securely to protect the organisation from risks such as cyber-threats and data breaches.
Tailor communication techniques for different stakeholders.
Maintain internal documentation to ensure a clear and identifiable audit trail of decision making and analysis.
