Summary

Every journey in the world is positively influenced by us. We are looking to recruit a number of apprentices to work across our business, working with our technicians, graduates, and engineers in the research and testing of all types of vehicles on our huge site in Nuneaton.

Wage
£16,000 a year

Minimum wage rates (opens in new tab)

Salary will increase each year, and will reflect our Technician rates upon completion of the apprenticeship.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

  • Developing your vehicle systems knowledge, including electrical and electronic systems
  • Applying tools and procedures to diagnose faults in vehicles
  • Preparing and supporting physical tests on customers' vehicles, and supporting the findings and conclusions

Motor vehicle service and maintenance technician - light vehicle (level 3)

Course contents
  • Contribute to the maintenance of a safe and efficient workshop. Segregate waste for disposal or recycling. Comply with industry environmental legislation.
  • Demonstrate due regard for own safety and that of others in the workshop and minimise risk of injury and vehicle damage.
  • Carry out fundamental tasks associated with removal and replacement procedures on a vehicle.
  • Obtain diagnostic and repair information.
  • Interpret diagnostic information and use electrical wiring diagrams to determine system serviceability.
  • Use a range of diagnostic equipment.
  • Follow recognised diagnostic procedures, logical diagnostic sequence and apply advanced diagnostic principles and problem-solving techniques to establish faults.
  • Report faults using company procedures and recommend suitable further actions.
  • Follow recognised repair procedures to complete a wide range of repairs including those which involve complex procedures, or in depth knowledge.
  • Test the function of repaired and fitted components.
  • Adhere to business processes and complete documentation following workplace procedures.
  • Use ICT to create emails, word-process documents and carry out web based searches.
  • Complete a range of services and inspect and prepare a vehicle to the required quality standard for handover to the customer.

Your training plan

  • At the end of 36 months you will have attained a plus a broad range of experiences, evidenced in Level 3 Motor Vehicle Service & Maintenance Technician advanced apprenticeship
  • College training will be at a college in Warwick or Rugby on a day release basis

Requirements

Essential qualifications

GCSE or equivalent in:

  • English (grade 4)
  • Maths (grade 4)
  • Science (grade 4)

Desirable qualifications

BTEC or equivalent in:

  • Engineering (grade Pass)

NVQ or SVQ Level 2 or equivalent in:

  • Engineering (grade Pass)

After this apprenticeship

  • Career progression could see continuation into an advanced technician role via a level 4 higher apprenticeship or HNC, and then further progression via HND and Degree years into an Engineer role
