Summary

Chessworth, a rapidly expanding e-commerce fulfilment business located in Tolpits Lane, Watford, is actively seeking to expand its warehouse team. As our fulfilment services experience significant growth, we require a warehouse operative to assist with all picking, packing and dispatching of our client's goods, and keep the warehouse in order.

Wage
£13,520 a year

Minimum wage rates (opens in new tab)

£13,520 starting salary, then increasing to £15,184 after the six month probationary period.

The role of Warehouse & Logistics Operative Apprentice includes:

  • Managing goods in and out of the warehouse
  • Unloading vehicles safely and accurately
  • Receiving and putting away heavy goods – ensuring that goods are correct, and received in an appropriate condition
  • Order picking, packing and dispatching orders as per client orders
  • Using IT as and when required (email, word, internet & any associated programs to ensure that orders are completed and duties are carried out accurately, and timely) 
  • Liaising with our fulfilment clients by phone and email
  • General warehouse assistance when required
  • Using in house systems and software to manage our inventory systems and processing orders
  • Prepare stock for the couriers and manifest everything ready for collection
  • Working to deadlines to meet customer orders, courier collections / deliveries and to ensure that the business continues to operate efficiently
  • Continuously developing your skills, knowledge and behaviours within a Warehouse and Logistics environment to ensure that you grow within the role, complete and pass the apprenticeship
  • Adhering to health and safety procedures at all times to ensure the safety of yourself, colleagues and site visitors
  • Attending & completing any employer training relating to the role, and the apprenticeship qualification as and when required

  • Locate and use operational information, electronic or paper based, required to fulfil contractual requirements.
  • Select, prepare, and use packaging materials that reduce waste and mitigate environmental impacts.
  • support under instruction scheduled and unscheduled stock taking activities relevant to the organisation and product.
  • Identify and escalate problems beyond own responsibility.
  • Follow procedures in line with environmental and sustainability regulations, standards, and guidance. Segregate resources for reuse, recycling and disposal.

Your training plan

  • As this is an apprenticeship role you will be working towards completing the Level 2 Supply Chain Warehousing Operative Apprenticeship Standard
  • This is a 14 month apprenticeship, and all training will be delivered on site at the employers location

GCSE or equivalent in:

  • Maths & English (grade 4-9 / A*-C)

Other requirements

The role is ‘hands on’ and therefore you will need a good level of fitness in order to unload deliveries, move stock around the warehouse and carry out any additional physical duties. You need to provide certificates for your qualifications & will be required to undertake assessments in maths prior to a formal apprenticeship offer being made.
