Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
Daily duties:
- Under the direction and supervision of qualified staff you will assist in the delivery of activities enhancing children's social and educational development
- Assist in setting up and clearing away displays and activities, including ensuring that the materials and equipment are safe and clean
- Attending to the children's personal needs including assisting at mealtimes
- Exchanging information with parents/carers
- Assisting other staff with the assessment procedures to ensure the children's progress

- Use up to date technology safely, to support learning.
- Encourage safe use of technology by learners.
- Adapt teaching strategies to support all learners (for example, scaffolding, open questioning).
- Identify and respond to pastoral and academic behaviours in learners.
- Provide feedback to learners.

Your training plan
Teaching Assistant Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard:
- Training will be off the job in the form of live, interactive webinars, along with online assignments which will be supported by a dedicated Total People Learning Coach
- Assessments will take place within the workplace by Total People qualified assessors to ensure that candidates meet the relevant and required standards
- Apprentices without English and maths at Level 2 must achieve these prior to taking the End Point Assessment

Desirable qualifications
GCSE or equivalent in:
- English (grade 4/C or above)
- Maths (grade 4/C or above)
